Puttles Bridge

On Sunday Sue and I did a geocache in the New Forest. The start point was Puttles Bridge (a lovely name). It took us on a super walk which would have been even better had the weather not been overcast. En route we encountered this hairy beast. Fortunately he appeared friendly; there was no fence between us. Speaking to the local ranger, who had his house nearby, this beast belonged to him and he was just hanging around for a snack. There is another one like him, only larger; he is nicknamed John Wayne because of the way he swaggers down the road.

Timberrrrrr!!

We had a little excitement last Friday the tree surgeons arrived. Next door had one of their trees felled and we were having our decorative cherry trees trimmed. Altogether they spent 6 hours here and did a very good job. All the neighbours like what they have done which is important. Lets hope they don’t grow too quickly.

January News

It’s just after 4 o’clock and it’s raining, dark and generally horrible outside.
The only happenings of note are Sue’s minor op, the removal of a rodent ulcer. This has got nothing to do with rats. Once she had the appointment for it to be looked at everything happened very quickly and within a week it was removed. At the moment it is far more of a mess than when she had the ulcer. Tomorrow she is having the stitches out. She has had a few funny looks when she has been out and about.
This last Sunday we went to Jennifer and Brian Garvan’s for lunch along with other retired ex JHQ group. We had a great time and we caught up on a lot of news because we hadn’t been able to go to recent gatherings.
Hopefully the weather will improve and I will be able to post some better photos on the blog site.

The Campbells

Trish and Colin visited us for an evening meal on New Years Day.
As usual they were very entertaining. Fortunately Colin didn’t get up to any of his tricks so the house remained intact.

New Years Eve

The New Forest Ramblers were putting on a Festival of Winter Walks and I was leading the last ramble of the year. It was a dry afternoon, but there were some thick black clouds around at the start.
As you can see from the photo the sun came out and stayed with us for much of the time.
It was a 5-mile circular walk, which we completed in 2 hours.
The photo was taken by David Caals (thanks).
You can see me on the right.
