Geocaching at Pentridge Hill
Sue and I did a geocache last Friday and I thought you would like to see the views we were treated to. The cache was on Pentridge Hill about 12 miles SW of Salisbury. This is a historic area with Long Barrows, Grims Ditch, a Roman Road and other antiquities in the area. We spent some time at the cache just enjoying the view.
There is a photo of myself, not shown because Sue managed to get the fence post coming out of the back of my head.

Brian and Julia's Visit
Julia and Brian Severn came for lunch on Sunday, no expense was spared and we broke out the jam and bread. They were both looking exceptionally well even though they are still working. They brought us up to date with a lot of the ex-Dortmund people who we had not heard from for a while. We had a great time and it was good to them again.

Salisbury Visit
We had a visit to Salisbury the other afternoon. I managed to do three geocaches in and around the city. Walking from one to another I took this photo of the cathedral, which I thought I should share with my readers. Hope you like it.

Chipping Sodbury part 2
We are back at home now after having a very good couple of weeks away in Chipping Sodbury. The weather did us proud for a September and we had many days sitting around in the sun. We did quite a few geocaches, some cycling and a few walks. Fortunately the area is not too demanding.
The holiday was finished off with the Heritage Weekend. On the Saturday afternoon all eight of us went on a guided tour of the old collieries. The tour was by bus and took three hours, plus it was free. At one stop we were in someone’s garden looking at some of the old mine workings. The old winding house could be seen and the circular track that the horse went around to pull up the winding cable.
Sunday we drove to the Severn Bridges’ exhibition followed by a visit to Tower House at Almondsbury. This was originally built by a man who had made his money in linoleum. The house latterly became a hospital and now is a private house again. It looks superb inside after lots of renovation. There is still plenty to do.

Superb Weather
We have been blessed with some of the best weather this summer. Blue skies and loads of sunshine.
On Sunday we went to Dave and Hilary Grove for lunch. Had a great time sitting in the garden and nattering about anything and everything. Having been really well fed they were introduced to Geocaching we did three, two were found and the other looks as though it has been taken.
I led a short ramble from the campsite yesterday for all our group. I managed to come back with clean trainers and Sue's were filthy.
Today our friends have gone to Bristol to do the sights, we did them a couple of years ago.
Tomorrow Sue and I are going to Weston-Super-Mare to take Sue's Auntie out for a meal.
That's it for now.

Caravanning at Chipping Sodbury
We came away last Tuesday and have been very lucky with the weather. It has been sunny every day. The Portsmouth rent-a-mob are also here so life is anything but dull. We had a cycle ride to do a geocache yesterday, the hills around here are very impressive, great fun coming down the 1 in 8 hill.
Chipping Sodbury is a great little town, it is very picturesque and has most of the shops that you need.
Had some minor problems with the caravan, but have managed to get some bits from the local caravan shop.
I will put some photos on the site when I get home.
Bye for now.
